The ALMSHOUSES

For over 400 years, Richmond Charities has played a vital role in supporting the Richmond community through its 145 almshouses, providing secure and comfortable homes for approximately 165 residents aged 65 and over. Almshouses are a recognised form of residential accommodation, run exclusively to support the Charity’s ongoing aim of enhancing residents’ quality of life, promoting well-being, and fostering a strong sense of community.

London House Projects is very proud to have recently assisted Richmond Charities with the restoration, modernisation and sustainable upgrading of a number of existing almshouses across Richmond, Twickenham and Mortlake. Recognising the importance of these historic homes, we worked closely with the Charity to ensure the comfort, dignity and well-being of residents remained at the heart of every decision.

We are also proud to have completed an exciting new development of 12 almshouses on behalf of The Richmond Charities, helping to meet the growing demand for this important form of housing in the area. All of the new homes have been designed with level access, with some adapted for wheelchair users and those with reduced mobility. They offer modern, comfortable and accessible living spaces for older residents in need.

It has been a privilege to contribute to a scheme that gives back to the community, and we are delighted that the project has been recognised with the Inspirational Home Award.
