Working collaboratively with the client on this extensive renovation of a grand two storey Victorian home, which had previously been split into three flats. Our clients' passion, from the moment they set eyes on the property, would be to return their newly acquired home back to its original splendour, but to also include a large side extension and full width third storey to fit sympathetically with the original Victorian design of the house. All bespoke features were created, including, the grand staircase scaling three stories; specialist architraves and cornices were proportioned to suit the overly high ceilings; perfectly aged parquet to match the original flooring; and of course the pride and joy of being able to restore the original fireplace to perfect working condition. The tall windows and glass doors scale the 4m high walls, transforming the interior and allowing light to flood in. Rooms interconnect from one to the other, creating opening views and interesting reflections through the interior space. As always, storage is key, and with clever design we introduced bespoke made dressing rooms, discreet floor to ceiling wardrobes and cupboards, and not to forget the hand-crafted library of shelves, filling the traditional study from wall to wall and ceiling to ceiling. To complete the project paint colours and papers were carefully chosen to reflect the style and feel of each room, acting as the perfect back-drop to display the extensive selection of art and collectables gathered from travels around the globe.
